Minh Tuệ
Walking the Path of Truth
Born Lê Anh Tú in 1981 in Hà Tĩnh, he left a career as a land surveyor in 2015 to practice Theravāda Dhutanga asceticism. After three silent pilgrimages, his 2024 walk across Vietnam became an unprecedented phenomenon — followed by millions.

International pilgrimage — Dec 2024
On December 12, 2024, he began an international pilgrimage walking through Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal — retracing the path of the Buddha himself.
“The longest road is not from South to North, but from the head to the heart.”

Protect Minh Tuệ's Right to Walk in Peace
A barefoot pilgrim. No phone. No possessions. No agenda. Just a human being walking in peace.
The Current Situation
In June 2024, Vietnamese authorities forcibly ended his walk after millions followed him. In December 2024, he resumed internationally — but Thailand abruptly revoked visa extensions, forcing the group to travel 2,500 km by bus in 48 hours. Myanmar denied entry. Every step he takes is met with government barriers.
A Philosophy of Radical Authenticity
Minh Tuệ practices Dhutanga — a 26-century-old Buddhist ascetic discipline. No money, no possessions, no power. Just walking, collecting alms, and living fully in the present moment. This absolute simplicity has touched millions of hearts in an age of material excess.
Religious Freedom Is a Basic Right
His pilgrimage is not a political movement. It is a peaceful, individual spiritual practice that harms no one. Any government that blocks this journey violates the right to religious freedom guaranteed by international law.
A Global Source of Inspiration
With 90 million searches in May 2024 and 10–25 million monthly searches ongoing, Minh Tuệ has become a symbol of authentic living in a chaotic age. Millions worldwide need to see that truth can still exist freely.
"Let him be a wild deer as he longs for — roaming free, untamed, and true to his sacred path."

Beyond Vietnam — December 2024
The International Pilgrimage
On December 12, 2024, Minh Tuệ began walking beyond Vietnam's borders, tracing a path through six countries toward the birthplace of Buddhism. Accompanied only by a retired police officer who volunteered as his companion, he continues the same practice — no money, no possessions, walking on.
