In honor of the Vesak season, Thích Minh Tuệ was mentioned in the very first resolution in California history by the State Legislature officially recognizing and honoring Vesak Day.
Passed as ACR 141 — Vesak Day, the historic resolution recognized:
> “The recent pilgrimage and example of mindfulness demonstrated by Thich Minh Tue has drawn international attention to the enduring power of Buddhist practice, humility, and peaceful devotion…”
The resolution also honored:
> “The Walk for Peace from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., organized by Buddhist monks, which gained hundreds of thousands of American supporters from all demographics…”
This marks the first time the California Legislature has formally recognized Vesak Day through a concurrent resolution passed by both the Assembly and Senate.
Thank you Assemblyman Tri Ta (Tá Đức Trí) for helping bring this historic recognition of Vesak Day to the State of California and for acknowledging the enduring values of peace, compassion, mindfulness, and nonviolence.
